Meet Rachael
A Little bit about me. I was born and raised on the south coast of England, on a large vegetable growing nursery. Born into a family of growers, horticulture is at the very core of my bones. The smell of a tomato plant will always remain in my heart. Because of this very close encounter with nature from birth, with the smell of earth on my parents hands and sun bleached hair I became a flower fan!
I have studied plants and their forms all of my life and have an innate sense for flowers and their structures. I am in awe of nature and feel at my absolute happiest when depicting their beauty in my art.
Colour is very important to me, like a facial expression, I feel an emotional connection to the colours I use within my paintings.
Further into adulthood I’m an Austrailian citizen, wife and mother to 3 boys. I currently live close to a national park and paint in my studio at the bottom of the garden. With the doors to my studio open wide most of the year I am blessed to listen to the beautiful song of the Australian bush, I absolutely love the sound of the Carnaby Cockatoos and the family of Kookaburras that live close by and the sound of the doves that reminded me of my childhood. And the beautiful 28s that walk up and down my fence singing at me to feed them.
It is my aim in my art that my love for the beauty within nature is portrayed, with a hint of a vintage vibe and twist of eclectic and unique mix of colours. I hope to create truly one off original painting evoking happiness and peace within the viewer whilst paying tribute to nature’s beauty.
